Ok well this is the final week of The Studio's Next Designer's Contest!!! Its been a rough week for me, I started out with my daughter being sick....then my son (hes three so that was miserable) and of course no way was I going to avoid it so I have been sick for the past four days and have been working on my kit during the peaks of my cold meds!!! So I submitted it last minute , right down to the wire...I can't even believe that I made it in time!! I thought for sure I was going to sit this week out!!

So, anyone that knows me knows I am a total mixed media, art journal girl at heart. I love to scrap too but mixed media is definitely my first love. To me, and this is prob bad to say but sometimes scrap kits get predictable and I hate to be predictable so of course I had to step outside the box and look back and thumb my nose at it when creating this week's submission.

It is also no secret that I love old photos, paintings, well most vintage ephemera. Flappers are probably my most favorite they are so sassy and so much fun. But I also love photos and images of Victorian and Edwardian women as well. My husband thinks its weird but I love how they dressed and how they are just the epitome of femininity. I love the bathing suits that covered them from head to toe (not that I would want to wear one but they just fascinate me!) to the dresses with the corsets and bussels!

So this week I made a pure art journal kit.  Six papers and 25 accents!!! Papers while not hand painted are hand made with brushes, blending, textures etc!!

Outside the Box Design Studio ~ Sale ~ New Art Journal Kit

While I LOVE to scrap, I think I am really and truly an Art Journaller at heart. Outside the Box Designs was the first to ask me to be on her Creative Team when I just first started out with digital about a year ago. Since then I have submerged myself in the digital scrap and art journal world. Ok, I have been out of town for the past few days, so I am a bit behind!!! While I was gone, Amanda from Outside the Box Designs was BUSSSYY!! A FAB NEW KIT plus some great bundled deals!! Outside the Box Designs has some really awesome kits, and even more awesome kits coming up!! Believe me!!! I get them before they are released so I know!! :-)  Check out the Squash Book which is a lot of fun!! This can be used digital or as a hybrid!

What is a "squash book"? It is like a Junk Journal. What's a Junk Journal? It's like an "old school" scrapbook! Art Journal Caravan Week 5 ~ Life is too Short to be Small

We are on week 5 of the Art Journal Caravan. I am so far behind, I have the first three weeks to do yet, but with all my CT work, my college work and doing two workshops...I'm moving kind of slow!!!!

So we had some great prompts this week, but I chose "Life is too Short to be Small"  First thing that popped into my head was Rosie the Riveter. LOVE her! She is such a strong icon for a military spouse, symbolizing that "We Can Do It" attitude.  I wanted to incorporate that strength, with the support of our soldiers and patriotism.  I also wanted to keep it simple. I tend to overwhelm with elements so I had to really work hard not to do that with this layout.

Outside the Box Design Studio Inchie Challenge at GDS

So of course I participated in the Inchie Challenge at GDS...I chose to use Indigo Interlude by Outside the Box Design Studio which is a beautiful kit with all sorts of shades of blue!!!

So here is my entry:

I actually ended upmaking three different layouts and then shrinking them down because you cant really see the details in the inchies because they are so small....they aren't my most favorite size of art but they can be fun!! Here is the full size layouts

So....Hide & Seek by Outside the Box Design Studio just released this incredible Art Journaling kit!!! I am in lovvvvvee!!!  I couldn't stop making pages out of this kit!! I think I ended up making like eight or nine of them!!!

ARTchaeology of the Soul ~ Sneak Peak of whats to come!

Well we have 29 days until the ARTchaeology of the Soul Workshops begin! Personally I wish they would start right now, but I definately think they are worth the wait!
